Untitled Portrait

Took a little more serious turn with the iPad play. This is really basic, super simple photo manipulation, but it is fun to play with. I am thinking about painting this..

Something a little different

This was fun – (they all are fun). These flowers might make a nice greeting card or a print.

Another Warhol-ish Portrait

Baby-Sunshine-350px
Baby Sunshine – digital

I may play with this one a little more – I like it but it could use a little toning down I think. The yellow is blinding me.

And what do you think it should be - Warhol-ish or Warhol-ian silliness?

IPad SIlly Fun Continues

Hat-Lady-350px
Hat Lady – digital

Thought about naming this “Church Lady”  - and I still might change it to that. LOL
I love this one. Such silliness!

As I mentioned previously - I have been "working on lightening up"  a bit in my life (that phrase alone makes me snicker), and playing more. So for fun I enrolled in an online class developed by Jessica Wesolek at Cre8it.com

I took an online photography class with her a few years back and thought it was good so I gave this one a shot. NOT diasappointed and it has just started!

I have a bazillion (okay, maybe not a bazillion, but I have quite a few) art and photo apps for my iPad and iPhone already and occasionally mess around with them. Right off the bat Jessica introduces a new and free app that I don't have and hadn't heard of called PhotoPad. It has a lot of capability and is easy to use. (She also introduced us to a nifty $.99 list/to do type app called CLEAR - very, very simple, basic, and brand new.)

By the way - I don't wear hats, the hat was completely drawn and painted in using the PhotoPad app. You can tell if you look -  these were done quickly and playfully - but I am loving the potential of this app.

So these altered photos are really from stuff I am doing/learning in Jessica's class with just one app  - PhotoPad by Zagg. You can find it in the iTunes store - or look for it where ever you get your apps. Zagg makes the best shields for your iPhone and iPad - and you can actually upload your artwork to Zagg and make a skin for your device.

(I took these self portrait photos a long time ago with some other phone app - I don't even remember which one now - but (obviously)it had an option to distort in various ways so these old pics were hanging around - finally found something to do with them!)

They make me giggle a little...

Digital Painting

Lynn's Orange Flowers
Digital painting about 6" x 4"

Thank you Skip, Lynn, Christy, and Jerry - for the absolutely beautiful flowers. When I say I am enjoying them - I really mean it. The flowers you sent are GORGEOUS - the colors are astounding and perfect and I wish I could keep them forever. I can't - so this is my second best option. Looking at the colors of these flowers is almost medicinal - it's like getting a shot of some kind of wonderful, energizing, happiness drug. Thank you.

New Digital Painting

Okay this bug was way fun although it took me about as long as a regular painting would have. It went through a bazillion changes. I am OK with it now - there are some nice part. The problem with this bug is two fold - first I see a face in it that I can hardly get past and it is beautifully iridescent and I get kind of fixated on that. Here is a photo of the bug too.

Doesn't it just look like some kind of Indonesian god or a Tiki head? God's little creatures are just so darn cool!

Today's Art - Digital Painting

Here is a digital painting - (really more of a drawing) - of the green beetle that my sister-in-law gave me for my birthday. It is on a pink background because that is her favorite color and I am sending her a print of it - that and I actually like the pink too. It looks good printed on photo paper - but I am curious to try it on a nice piece of watercolor paper too. I just don't have any lightweight enough to go through my printer right now. I really need to learn more about the whole printing end of the digital art business. Yikes - yet another learning challenge! I am not ready for it yet - but it looms on the horizon. I can see it out there with a new large format printer surrounded by dollar signs. Yep it will cost me - time, brain, patience and money. That is for another day...

This digital drawing is just the first of many that I hope to be squeezing in between the Joyful Project, finishing Dog Stealer and daily painting and "anything else" of interest that crosses my path . I like working digitally - especially when I am not physically or mentally up to painting, like lately. (And yes - I am going to a doctor for this crud). Right now and until this passes and I feel better - that "anything else" is playing Zelda and Okami games on my Wii. I am so tired of feeling bad, that I am doing a fair amount of time wasting and zoning out with video games - which is a tremendous amount of fun too. And working digitally - it's all good, it's all fun.

Another digital version

Here is today's painting offering, digital again. This time I worked in watercolor and chalk. And once again it is a very dark painting - not where I want to go but can't seem to get away from dark, dark, dark. Today was not a great day - I feel kind of cruddy, and spent some time cleaning house. I also planted some sugar snap peas and broccoli in the back yard. I still have to resolve all of my online issues, but tomorrow I paint - with real paint.

Well, darn - I just looked again at this portrait - and I do not like the forehead area - I guess I may have to go back in and rework it a bit - or not. I should spend my time trying to go for a light version again.

OK - so I thought I was done - but I couldn't go to bed with that dark painting on my mind - sooo, here is this one. Lighter, pinker, differenter. :) Yes - it is from the same sketch - I just took some liberties, and sort of got away from the original a bit more. I did this one mostly in oil pastel - digital of course.
